Westminster Abbey, Observance for Commonwealth Day 2015

BCA were requested by Westminster Abbey to supply equipment and live video production services at this years Observance for Commonwealth Day. The purpose of our involvement was to enable members of the congregation to see as much of the service as possible. From the arrival of HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to performances, readings, prayers and addresses occurring from various locations within the Abbey, this meant a multi-camera production would be required. Using our in-house solution we were able to provide 9 Panasonic HD cameras, 5 manned and 4 robotically controlled. These were mixed using our own HD PPU and distributed to 6 plasma screens placed in the Nave along with a signal being fed to the Abbeys installed screens, located in the lantern. From these 9 positions we would be able to track processions as they moved through the aisles of the Abbey and relay this directly to the screens for viewing.
